Football Star Named ‘Community All-Star’ by Chicago Bears

Eduardo Antunez was recognized for the positive impact he makes in the community.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL – Eduardo Antunez, a junior and three-sport athlete at Evergreen Park Community High School, is the latest winner of the Chicago Bears’ Community High School All-Star award. Antunez was presented with the honor during a recent school lunch period as a surprise.

The award, presented by Athletico Physical Therapy, recognizes nine high school football players in the Chicago area who are making a positive impact in their community and at their school.

Antunez was selected due to his active volunteerism with the Evergreen Park Stallions youth football team as he devotes a significant amount of his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes. He is an integral part of the Stallions organization that has a mission to teach children not only about football, but important life skills such as teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship.

A standout on and off the field, Antunez is a member of the EPCHS National Honor Society and has participated in various community service projects such as the Toys for Tots drive and assisting with the Veterans Day breakfast at EPCHS.

He’s an accomplished student-athlete as a starting defensive end on the EPCHS varsity football team and state wrestling qualifier at the 200 lb. division. He is also a member of the Boys Track team in the spring. Academically, Antunez sports an impressive 3.75 GPA.

As a winner of the Bears’ Community High School All-Star award, Antunez received a custom hand-painted football, a gift bag and was invited to be part of the Bears’ NFL Draft party last month at Soldier Field. The Bears will also make a $500 donation to the charitable organization of Antunez’ choosing.
