Weeks before the Evergreen Park Mustang varsity football squad debuted at their new field, a number of the nearby feeder programs had the chance to break it in. 

The Most Holy Redeemer football teams (shown below) played host to St. Christina on August 28. Both the 5th-6th and 7th-8th grade Raiders came away with wins! 

A few days later, the Evergreen Park Stallions Youth Football Organization hosted a number of games on the field against visiting Oak Forest. Many of the Stallions were later put in the spotlight, running out of the new Mustang tunnel with the varsity football team before their home opener. 

The new football field comes with state-of-the-art field turf, an enhanced video scoreboard and new track around the field. 

The Mustangs themselves experienced the field for the first time in a game atmosphere on September 13, running away with a 49-31 win over the Oak Lawn Spartans! 

Evergreen Park Community High School has been recognized as a 2024 School of Distinction by the Illinois Art Education Association. EPCHS is one of only eight schools statewide receiving the prestigious honor this year. 

The recognition celebrates schools with rigorous art, design and media education programs. It recognizes schools that demonstrate excellence in curriculum and assessment, authentic learning, showcasing student learning, connected communities, leadership and advocacy and professional development and training. 

To earn the award, EPCHS evidenced practices that directly enacted the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards, the Illinois Fine Arts and Media Standards and Social-Emotional Learning Priorities. 

The IAEA is proud to honor EPCHS art teachers Libby McArthur and Tom Guerra for the distinguished programming and the significant opportunities offered students.

“Mr. Guerra and I are extremely proud of the work we do in our art department. We feel that every student can be an artist and EPCHS can be a great starting point on their lifelong art journey,” McArthur said.
