Mustang Swimmers Support Christmas Without Cancer

The girls swim team at EPCHS recently raised $650 to support a local nonprofit

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The girls swim team at Evergreen Park Community High School dove into the season with a mission that went beyond the pool — giving back to families in need. The team recently raised $650 to support Christmas Without Cancer, a local nonprofit that provides holiday gifts and financial assistance to families affected by cancer.

The swimmers first volunteered at the Christmas Without Cancer 5K held on September 20 in Evergreen Park. Inspired by that experience, the team decided to continue their efforts at home.

During the team’s annual home invitational on September 27, the Mustang swimmers hosted a fundraiser featuring custom “Swimming for a Cure” T-shirts, which were sold to all participating teams. In addition, a 50/50 raffle held during the meet brought in even more donations — all of which were contributed directly to the nonprofit.

The team recently mailed their $650 donation check to Christmas Without Cancer, helping the organization continue its mission of bringing hope and joy to families during the holiday season.
