Mustang Nation Proud of Our 3 Little League World Series Stars

KIRKLAND, WA - Three Evergreen Park Community High School varsity softball players are part of an historic run that has not only Evergreen Park, but all of Illinois, cheering them on at the international level.

Molly Goyke, Layne Schillo and Addison Mrskos are key members of the Evergreen Park Girls Softball Little League 14U team that remains undefeated in the 2025 Junior League Softball World Series.

“Following Molly, Layne and Addison’s success this summer has made us so proud, not just because they’ve worked really hard as softball players and continued to grow and develop, but because they are representing our community in the best possible way,” said Michelle Vucsko, head coach of EPCHS’ varsity softball team. “As a player, I think this is one of those things where you don’t recognize the magnitude of it until it’s over; as they should be, the girls are just playing the game, but the impact that they’re having on the EP community is incredible right now.”

The EPGSL team featuring Goyke, Schillo and Mrskos as key players went 4-0 in pool play and advanced to the final 8 round, single elimination, that begins on Thursday, July 31.

All three young stars are coming off stellar seasons as freshmen at EPCHS. Goyke was named to the 3A All-State 3rd Team, an All-Area Honorable Mention and All-Conference while batting .473 with a .508 on base percentage, 53 hits, 36 runs and 14-for-14 on stolen bases for the Mustangs in 2025. Schillo sported a .333 batting average with 21 runs, 30 hits and 13 RBI in the same season as Mrskos added 19 RBI, 23 runs, a .930 fielding percentage and turned five double plays.

Their EPGSL team not only broke through as Illinois state champions this year, they also won the Central Regional championship and then all four of their pool play games, including a 16-15 thrilling comeback win over Italy, at the Little League World Series in Kirkland, Washington.

“The summer these three have had has been just so impressive because whether it’s been in the State, Regional, or World Series tournament, Addison, Layne, and Molly have constantly been in the forefront of the action,” Vucsko said. “Either by getting on base, driving in runs, making key plays on defense, or anything else in between, those three have made their mark on this historic EPGSL team, and our EPCHS softball coaching staff could not be more proud of them.”
