Madrigals Make Way Around Evergreen Park Throughout Holiday Season

EVERGREEN PARK, IL – The Madrigal choir at Evergreen Park Community High School has spent much of December spreading holiday cheer throughout the village of Evergreen Park.

With performances scattered throughout the village, the 14 members of the Madrigals have made appearances at a variety of venues, and during some of the village’s most beloved seasonal events, all month.

Their first performance of the month came at OSF Health Little Company of Mary Hospital, where the group walked the halls while singing songs in their iconic Renaissance-era costumes that have made the group such a recognizable entity in Evergreen Park. From there, they performed at EPCHS’ annual Cocoa, Comedy and Carols event at the high school, for a senior group at Bethel Bible Church, at the Breakfast with Santa event for EPCHS staff members and their families, during the Winter Concert at EPCHS and recorded a segment for an episode of The EP Podcast.

Additional performances this month occurred during the Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce Holiday Luncheon held at Saint Xavier University and during Santa’s Wonderland, the village of Evergreen Park’s holiday tree lighting event that was held inside the Hamilton B. Maher Community Center this year.

“We have a small group, but one that holds a lot of individual responsibility,” EPCHS Choir Director Logan Scalf said. “Bringing music into the community is the most important thing we do, so I’m really proud of the time and effort these students put into it.”

This year’s group of Madrigals include Charlie Avros, Adam Bosch, Louise Brady, Ryan Brennan, Adrian Buenrostro, Cara Cassidy, Bella Dever, Alex Francisco, Jamari Jeffries, Abigail Mahoney, Isaiah Matthews, Zion McCadd, Riley Pippen and Danny Sommerio.

Although the Madrigals’ season usually ends with the arrival of the December holidays, the group will stay intact a little longer this year since they’ve also been chosen to perform during a choir concert at Millikin University in downstate Decatur, Illinois, on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.
