Marilyn Wax

Inducted in 2017

• EPCHS Physical Education teacher and coach 1968-2001 (33 years)

• Organized Softball Program in 1970

• Organized Girls Bowling in 1975 and qualified for the state tournament

• Bowling teams advanced to State Quarter finals in 1976, 1980, & 1982; a 4th place State in 1979, and 3rd place State finishes in 1977, 1978 1981

• Softball teams won 13 Conference Championships, 9 Regional Championships, 6 Sectional Championships, 6 State Tournament appearances with 4 Elite 8 finishes in 1987, 1990, 1998, 2001 and 2 Final Four finishes in 1978 & 1986

 • Only Softball Coach in Illinois whose teams have competed in IHSA State Tournaments in four decades, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s

• 525 career wins in softball

• Coach of the year in 1986 Chicago Suntimes, 1986 Southtown Newspaper, 1988 Illinois Girls Coaches Association, 2001 Southtown Newspaper, 2001 Reporter, 2003 Coach of the Year Finalist – National High School Coaches Association

 • Inducted into the Hall of Fame – Illinois Girls Coaches Association, 1991 and Illinois Coaches Association, 2001

• Presented the Key to the Village of Evergreen Park in 1986 by Mayor Anthony Vacco
