Horatio Alger Illinois Scholarship Program

For: High school seniors in Illinois who have demonstrated effective, voluntary, long-term dedication to the preservation, protection, enhancement and/or promotion of Illinois' natural resources.

The National Co-Op Scholarship Program

Deadline: February 15, 2019

For: High school seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or better who have been accepted and are planning to attend one of the WACE Partner College and Universities. Those institutions are: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York-Oswego, University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Paramount Tall Club of Chicago Scholarship

For:  High School seniors who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall of 2019 and meet the height requirement.  The minimum height requirements are 5’10” for females and 6’2” for males.

The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award

A Sustainable Future Through Solar Energy Scholarship

For: High school students who have one or more parents or grandparents who are immigrants to the U.S.  To be considered for an award, students must write an essay of between 500 and 1,000 words in length that responds to the following question: " Sullivan Solar Power believes that every person can make a difference in the quest for a sustainable future, regardless of field of study. Explain to us how you plan to use your education to help to achieve this goal."

Live Mas Scholarship

Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Teen Scholarship Essay Contest

Deadline: February 15

For:  High school seniors who will be attending an accredited college/university within one year of the award date are welcome to enter the competition.  Applicants must submit a short personal biography and a maximum 1500 - word essay describing how Alzheimer's disease has changed or impacted your life; and what you have learned about yourself, your family, and / or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease.

Specific College Scholarships

Lake Forest College

Forester Scholars Weekend, a full-tuition scholarship competition for qualified and admitted students, will take place on March 24 - March 25. Participating students will compete for one of 10 full-tuition scholarships. No student will leave empty handed as all participants will receive an additional $8,000 scholarship—$2,000 given annually over four years.  This is an invitation-only event and students must apply by January 15 to be considered.

 

 

 

Monmouth College

For top academic students (seniors) who are interested in majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry in college.  Each year, Monmouth offers a limited number of "Doc Kieft" Chemistry scholarships.  To qualify, the student must have a 3.5 or higher weighted GPA and they also must have an SAT of 1230 or higher (or ACT of 26+).   These usually range between $1,000 and $4,000 per year, and they are "stacked" in addition to the "Dean's Scholarship" (usually either $25,500 or $27,000/year for high achieving students).   Students need to apply for admission and be admitted by January 15, so it is recommended that they submit their applications immediately.   Students also are required to RSVP to interview by January 15th, and submit a letter of recommendation from a science teacher by January 18th.

 

Eastern Kentucky University

The SMART program will reduce out-of-state tuition costs by over $8,000 for Illinois residents.  Students are eligible with a GPA over 2.5 and a composite SAT score of 940 (18 ACT).  Eligible students will be charged a tuition rate of $10,000 per year.
